This landscape by Dexter Dawes measures 11 3/8 x 17 1/2 inches. It is signed in the lower right corner. Dawes was born in Englewood, NJ and went on to study at New York City's Art Student League. He summered in Marlboro, NH surrounded by beautiful gardens with views of Mount Monadnock which became the inspiration for many of his lithographs and paintings. He belonged to a number of associations including the National Arts Club. There is a National Arts Club label and a stamped date of May 20, 1954 on the backing included with this watercolor.
