There is a hand written title "Hog Island, Maine" and date "June 27 1918" on the bottom edge of the canvas and on the back but no clear signature. Period Gilt Frame
This color lithograph in red ink by the renowned French Post-Impressionist artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec was created in 1896, originally printed in a very small edition of 12 impressions on a thin laid paper, cat: Adhemar-211. This impression is a later restrike printed on a cream colored wove type paper, with a monogram in the plate lower left, framed.
Designed by the artist for the family's 1944 Christmas card, done on lightweight paper. It measures 7 1/4 x 8 3/8 inches. Dawes spent many years in the Marlboro, NH area drawing and painting the incredible natural beauty that surrounded him.
