Summer Light
1872- c.1950, American

This watercolor of two crab apple trees by Dexter Dawes measures 12 x 16 inches and is pencil signed and dated 1948. Dawes was born in Englewood, NJ and went on to study at New York City's Art Student League. He summered in Marlboro, NH surrounded by beautiful gardens with views of Mount Monadnock which became the inspiration for many of his lithographs and paintings. He belonged to a number of associations including the National Arts Club.

Making Sailors: The Gun

This is a dramatic original WWI lithograph by British artist Sir Frank Brangwyn. The image size is 18 1/4 x 14 1/4 inches, 1917, pencil signed. This image is from Brangwyn's series of 6 lithographs, "Making Sailors" which was part of the series 'The Great War: Britain's Efforts and Ideals', published by the the Ministry of Information in 1917. Sir Frank Brangwyn was one of the most important British artists of the early 20th century, he was a member of the Royal Academy, the Royal Watercolor Society, and the Royal Society of British Artists, and was knighted in 1924.
