Rising Grouse

This 1936 etching with drypoint by the American artist, Aiden Lassell Ripley, measures 7 x 5 3/8 inches, pencil signed, dated and titled. Aiden Lassell Ripley was a very successful sporting artist in 20th century America. He studied at the Boston Museum School under Phillip Hale and Frank Benson, then spent several years traveling throughout Europe. He became quite well known for his landscapes and sporting scenes, and also worked throughout his life in wildlife and endangered species preservation.
