Created in 1861, this fine etching by James Abbott McNeill Whistler measures 4 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches. It is #86 in the Kennedy catalog, the fourth of six states. On the lower margin it reads "London, Published December 1st, 1861, by Day & Son, Lith, to the Queen." It is housed in a wooden frame and is printed on medium weight wove paper. There is a double Whistler signature in the plate.


White Pine
1872- c.1950, American

This drawing by Dexter Dawes measures 21 1/4 x 14 1/2 inches and is dated "July 7, 1929" on the lower margin. Dawes was born in Englewood, NJ and went on to study at New York City's Art Student League. He summered in Marlboro, NH surrounded by beautiful gardens with views of Mount Monadnock which became the inspiration for many of his lithographs and drawings. He belonged to a number of associations including the National Arts Club
