The Breakers
1897-1970, American

Oil on masonite, 20 x 24 inches, c. 1950, signed "A R Herrick," in the original frame built by the artist. Herrick was a well known artist in Westmoreland, NH, specializing in plein air landscapes and seascapes of New England. He was a member of the Copley Society of Boston, the Connecticut Academy of Arts and the North Shore Art Association. This dynamic image of crashing surf was most likely painted near Rockport, MA.

Main Boon - Hay Schooner
1894-1979, American

This fine original etching by John Winkler measures 4 x 6 1/4 inches and is pencil signed and numbered. Winkler attended the San Francisco Art Institute and became enamored with the art of etching. Known for his simplistic line, he was often compared to Whistler. He became good friends with fellow etchers, John Taylor Arms as well as Arthur Heintzelman. His works are found in major museums throughout the US and Europe.

Very nice sketch of a tree, standing alone in a meadow, with clouds in the background. This Dexter Dawes pencil sketch is dated 1913 and measures 6 x 9 inches and has sketching notes in the artists' hand on the lower margin.
