The Barnyard Chicken

Oil on board, image size 5 x 7 1/4 inches, c. 1860s, signed, in original frame. Batcheller was a well-known artist in Providence, RI in the late 19th century, specializing in still life paintings. He was also one of the founding members along with Charles Walter Stetson, George William Whitaker, and Edward M. Bannister of the Providence Art Club. Provenance: Waterman, Gilder and Picture Framer, Providence, RI.

Engraving done for the Miniature Print Society, image size: 1 7/8 x 3 1/2 inches, pencil signed and dated "1946" lower right. edition of 250. Called the "poet engraver of New England," Nason's artwork was featured in the show "The Road Less Traveled: Thromas Nason's Rural New England" at the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, Connecticut in 2009.
