The Neighbor's House, Peconic, Long Island
1861-1948, American

This is a beautiful landscape of the artist's winter view from his Long Island studio. Oil on canvas, 14 x 20 inches, c. 1935, signed in the lower left corner, in the original frame. This painting was given to the current family by the artist, their neighbor in Peconic, Long Island. Irving Wiles studied at the Art Students League in New York with William Merrit Chase who became a close friend and colleague, then spent some time in Paris studying at the Academy Julien.

Flower Market and Butter Tower
1857-1926, American

This etching done in 1907 by Joseph Pennell measures 10 7/8 x 8 1/2 inches. It is pencil signed on the lower margin by the artist and is #463 in the Wuerth catalog. Known as an etcher, lithographer and illustrator, Pennell was also close friends with fellow artist James McNeill Whistler. He taught at the National Academy and the Art Students League of New York City.
