Still Life With Flowers
1872- c.1950, American

This pastel still life by Dexter Dawes measures 21 1/8 x 14 1/8 inches and is signed by the artist in the lower right corner. Dawes was born in Englewood, NJ and went on to study at New York City's Art Student League. He summered in Marlboro, NH surrounded by beautiful gardens with views of Mount Monadnock which became the inspiration for many of his lithographs and paintings. He belonged to a number of associations including the National Arts Club.

Le Marche aux Fleurs
1872-1936, French

This is a beautiful sun drenched Paris street scene by French artist Manuel Robbe. Etching and aquatint in colors, image size 14 x 10 3/4 inches, c. 1910, pencil signed, framed. One of this leading French artists of the ‘Belle Epoch,’ Robbe studied at the Academie Julien and the Ecole des Beaux Artes, becoming a master of the aquatint medium. He developed much of his own aquatint techniques, which enabled him to create his uniquely painterly, richly colored images. In this scene, he beautifully captures the atmosphere of the bright Paris street as two women buy flowers from the vendors.
