This is a beautifully painted miniature landscape in the Hudson River School style, oil on academy board, 3 3/4 x 2 1/4 inches, c. 1883, unsigned, in an original Doll & Richards frame, with a label on the back. Although this painting is unsigned and we have not been able to identify an artist, it is very well painted with rich colors and remarkable, minute details.
"Summer Meadow" by Dexter Dawes measures 12 x 9 inches. Dawes summered in Marlboro, NH surrounded by beautiful gardens with views of Mount Monadnock which became the inspiration for many of his lithographs, drawings and paintings. He belonged to a number of associations including the National Arts Club.
