Doge's Palace from St. Mark's Bay, Venice

This is a gorgeous Venice scene, painted in oil on panel, c. 1870s, signed "Ziem" in the lower left corner, in a heavy period gilt frame. This painting is attributed to French artist Felix Ziem (1821-1911), who was known for his atmospheric images of the city of Venice. Although we have been unable to ascertain this painting is by Ziem, the style, subject, and composition certainly look like his work. Regardless of the artist, this is a beautiful, richly hued painting of the distinctive Doge's Palace and St. Mark's Bay, Venice.
