Sheep in a Woodland Pasture
1839-1915, American

This is a beautiful summer landscape by White Mountain artist Clinton Loveridge, oil on canvas, 22 x 36 inches, 1884, signed and dated in the lower left corner, with a Windsor Newton stamp on the back of the canvas, framed. Known for his landscapes and pastoral scenes, Loveridge painted in New York and the White Mountains of New Hampshire and exhibited his work frequently at the Brooklyn Art Association and the Nation Academy of Design.

A fine pencil drawing by Dexter Dawes done on a heavy weight paper. It measures 7 5/8 x 11 inches. Dawes was born in Englewood, NJ and went on to study at New York City's Art Student League. He summered in Marlboro, NH surrounded by beautiful gardens with views of Mount Monadnock which became the inspiration for many of his lithographs and paintings. He belonged to a number of associations including the National Arts Club.
