Beech Tree

This atmospheric landscape by the American impressionist, Henry Kenyon, measures 10 1/2 x 13 3/4 inches, unsigned but with label from Childs Gallery stating "from the estate of the artist" on the backing. Kenyon is most known for his landscape and marine paintings, active in New England and Louisiana. After studying at the Rhode Island School of Design, Kenyon traveled to Europe and studied at the Academie Julian under Jules-Joseph Lefebre and Gustave Boulange. He was a member of the Ipswich Art Colony and exhibited regularly at the National Academy of Design shows in NYC.

This 1912 etching by Donald Shaw MacLaughlan measures 9 1/2 x 11 1/2 inches, pencil signed, plate dated. MacLaughlan studied in Boston and was heavily influenced by James McNeill Whistler.
