This is a very rare nocturnal scene by French artist Auguste- Louis Lepere. Etching, image size is 4 1/4 x 3 7/8 inches, 1893, cat: LB-71, pencil signed and numbered "16". Auguste-Louis Lepere was one of the leading French printmakers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He began studying printmaking at the age of 13 with Joseph Burn Smeeton in Paris and quickly made a name for himself with his innovative style and technically brilliant etchings and wood engravings.

Grove of Trees

A fine pencil sketch of a grove of trees with a landscape in the background by Dexter Dawes, measuring 7 1/2 x 11 inches on a medium weight drawing paper. Dawes summered in Marlboro, NH surrounded by beautiful gardens with views of Mount Monadnock which became the inspiration for many of his lithographs, drawings and paintings. He belonged to a number of associations including the National Arts Club.
