Cloudy Skies
1844-1942, American

A lovely watercolor by the American artist, Horace Burdick. It measures 6 3/4 x 8 3/4 inches and is matted. Burdick attended the Museum School of Fine Arts in Boston and was known throughout his career as a portrait and landscape painter. He did many White Mountain scenes as well as New England coastal scenes. This image is from the artists' estate.

Le Chapeau Epingle (The Pinned Hat)
1841-1919, French

This is a remarkable original etching by French Impressionist Pierre Auguste Renoir, image size is 4 1/2 x 3 1/8 inches, 1894, cat: Delteil-8, plate signed. An early impression on antique laid type paper with ample margins. The two girls in this image are Julie Manet, daughter of Berthe Morisot, and her cousin Paulette Gobillard. Julie Manet was one of Renoir's favorite models, and appears in many of his paintings and prints.

Grove of Trees
1872- c.1950, American

A fine pencil sketch of a grove of trees with a landscape in the background by Dexter Dawes, measuring 7 1/2 x 11 inches on a medium weight drawing paper. Dawes summered in Marlboro, NH surrounded by beautiful gardens with views of Mount Monadnock which became the inspiration for many of his lithographs, drawings and paintings. He belonged to a number of associations including the National Arts Club.
