Print

The Master Falconer
1473-1531, German

This woodblock was created by 16th century German artist Hans Burgkmair I c. 1518; it measures 15 1/4 x 14 3/4 inches and is Plate #5 in a series of 135 prints depicting the "Triumph of Maximilian I" in which Burgkmair was responsible for nearly half of them. This impression is printed on an early laid type paper with the banners masked, which indicates an early, possibly 16th century proof.
