Summer Light
1872- c.1950, American

This watercolor of two crab apple trees by Dexter Dawes measures 12 x 16 inches and is pencil signed and dated 1948. Dawes was born in Englewood, NJ and went on to study at New York City's Art Student League. He summered in Marlboro, NH surrounded by beautiful gardens with views of Mount Monadnock which became the inspiration for many of his lithographs and paintings. He belonged to a number of associations including the National Arts Club.

Open Air Market

This color etching by Armand Coussens measures 9 1/2 x 15 3/4 inches. Published c. 1920, pencil signed and numbered and printed on heavy weight paper. Coussens studied under Alex Lahaye at the Beaux-Arts in Nimes, France where he eventually became professor of drawing. His landscapes and figure studies were of everyday life on the street, often with delicate colorings on very detailed plates.
