Color etching and aquatint, image size 16 5/8 x 11 5/8 inches, 1930, edition of 100, pencil signed, framed. Luigi Kasimir was a pioneer in the field of color etching. Earlier artists would often apply color to single plate, but Kasimir developed a technique of using four to six plates, each with a different color to create extraordinarily rich tones and values. He specialized in city scenes and landmarks and traveled throughout Europe and America creating many spectacular color etchings, of which his New York scenes are some of the finest.
