Pines at Sunset

This is a great original lithograph by Birger Sandzen. The image size is 7 x 9 7/8 inches, c. 1930, pencil signed and dated. Sandzen was born in Sweden and studied with Anders Zorn and Richard Berg before moving to Paris to study with Edmund Aman-Jean. In 1894 he accepted a teaching position at Bethany College in Kansas, where lived and taught for the rest of his life. He was a noted painter and printmaker and an important member of the Prairie Print Makers, who selected his print "A Kansas Creek" as their first gift print.
