This is a beautiful etching by French artist Auguste Louis Brouet, titled "Danseuse au Miroir" or alternately "La Loge des Danseuses". Image size 6 1/2 x 8 3/4 inches, pencil signed and numbered. According to our research, this image was printed in an edition of 75 but this one is most likely an artist proof, as it is numbered "8/20". Auguste Brouet was born to a poor family in Paris in 1872, and as a teenager worked as an apprentice lithographer and lute maker. He attended the Ecole des Beaux Artes, under the tutelage of Gustave Moreau, and was then introduced to etching by Auguste Delatre.
