Painting

Hudson River Miniature
19th Century, American

This is a beautifully painted miniature landscape in the Hudson River School style, oil on academy board, 3 3/4 x 2 1/4 inches, c. 1883, unsigned, in an original Doll & Richards frame, with a label on the back. Although this painting is unsigned and we have not been able to identify an artist, it is very well painted with rich colors and remarkable, minute details.

Print

Le Marche aux Fleurs
1872-1936, French

This is a beautiful sun drenched Paris street scene by French artist Manuel Robbe. Etching and aquatint in colors, image size 14 x 10 3/4 inches, c. 1910, pencil signed, framed. One of this leading French artists of the ‘Belle Epoch,’ Robbe studied at the Academie Julien and the Ecole des Beaux Artes, becoming a master of the aquatint medium. He developed much of his own aquatint techniques, which enabled him to create his uniquely painterly, richly colored images. In this scene, he beautifully captures the atmosphere of the bright Paris street as two women buy flowers from the vendors.
