Watercolor on paper, 3 3/8 x 4 5/8 inches, signed in ink lower left. Housed in a period frame, possibly original to the painting, but recently rematted with archival materials. An old label on the back gives the title and location and is also signed by the artist.

This is a rare WWI etching by Kerr Eby, image size 4 1/2 x 6 3/8 inches, 1919, from a small edition of 50 impressions, illustrated in the 'The Print Collector's Quarterly 26 (1939), cat: Giardina-33, pencil signed 'Kerr Eby imp', the 'imp' indicating that Eby printed this impression himself. Framed, with a label on the back from Gusfield- Glimer Galleries, Northfield, Illinois. This evocative image of an African American soldier is based on Eby's experiences in France during WWI.
