Mixed media, sight size 11 1/2 x 15 1/4 inches, titled and dated l.r. "rockhill 67", framed. Nora Unwin was a children's illustrator and author. Born near London, England into a family where several members were engaged in publishing and printing. She is best known for her work in book illustration and wood carving. After moving to the States she became a member of the National Academy of Design in New York and earned a Newbury mention for "Mountain Born", and a Newbury Medal for "Amos Fortune, Free Man". The Sharon Arts Center in Peterborough, New Hampshire is the keeper of the Nora S.

Dawes summered in southern NH, with its' majestic views of Mt. Monadnock where many of his inspirations for his drawings, paintings and lithographs came from.
