Westmoreland Farm in Winter
1897-1970, American

A view from "Great Meadow Ferry Road" measures 16 x 24 inches. Created c. 1950-60, oil on board, it suggests a beautiful, sunny winters' day in New Hampshire. Arthur Herrick lived in Westmoreland and was known for his landscapes of the area including Mt. Monadnock. The estate stamp is on the backing and an inscription with the location.

The Phoenician Coast

This fine etching titled "The Phoenician Coast" depicts a rocky coast with mast ships in the distance. The image size measures 8 1/5 x 12 3/8 inches with adequate margins. Printed in 1934 in an edition of 80 it is plate signed and dated and also hand signed in pen and ink. McBey's love of the sea and boats is apparent in this landscape of the Syrian coast, near Tyre. Born into poverty he was a self-taught artist only to become the leading figure of the British Etching Revival. His works vary in subject and style but all reveal his masterful draughtsmanship and his sense of light.

The Blacksmith Shop

This charcoal drawing by John(Jack)Fenton measures 10 x 14 inches and is pencil signed on the lower right corner. In this image, Fenton depicts local characters gathering at the blacksmith shop to catch up on daily events. Fenton was a native of New York and studied at Columbia University and the New York School of Art. He became a painter, illustrator and teacher with his works exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago.
