Morning on the Cape
1858-1926, American

This is an atmospheric early morning seaside scene by American artist William Worcester Churchill. Pastel on paper, sight size 12 x 18 inches, c. 1900, signed lower left, in a very fine period gilt frame. William Churchill was born and raised in Massachusetts, and attended the Boston Museum School before traveling to Paris to study with Leon Bonnat. When he returned to Boston he opened a studio on Irvington St. and began a very successful artistic career, becoming well known for his indoor scenes and portraits as well as his landscapes in oils and pastels.

Elms by the Lake
1900-1988, Italian-American

A finely detailed etching by Luigi Lucioni, this image measures 7 7/8 x 10 7/8 inches and was published by the Associated American Artists in 1938 in an edition of 152. It is pencil signed and is number 58 in the Embury catalog. This image is in excellent condition and features a rich impression printed with ample margins on a cream colored wove type paper. Lucioni was known for his remarkably detailed etchings of the New England landscape, and this image is a great example of the textures and sense of atmosphere that he could bring to life.

Watercolor, image size 6 x 8 1/2 inches. McAuliffe was active in the late 19th century and produced public works especially in Everett, Mass: Roman Catholic Cathedral, St John's; Parlin Library. His specialties were maritime and religious subjects.
