The Lighthouse
1935 - ?, American

This original oil on canvas, c. 1950, by Robert Mokowitz measures 12 x 16 inches and is signed on the lower right and is framed. Moskowitz was heavily influenced by abstract expressionism and the work of Jasper Johns. Studying at the Pratt Institute of Art under Bradley Walker Tomlin and Adolph Gottlieb, he worked mainly in oils and pastels with architectural themes. His work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art and the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington.

Lone Woodcock
1896-1969, American

This is a finely detailed original etching by American sporting artist Aiden Lassell Ripley. Image size 8 1/2 x 13 3/4 inches, c. 1935, pencil signed and titled. Aiden Lassell Ripley was a very successful sporting artist in 20th century America. He studied at the Boston Museum School under Phillip Hale and Frank Benson, then spent several years traveling throughout Europe. He became quite well known for his landscapes and sporting scenes, and also worked throughout his life in wildlife and endangered species preservation.
