Summer Light
1872- c.1950, American

This watercolor of two crab apple trees by Dexter Dawes measures 12 x 16 inches and is pencil signed and dated 1948. Dawes was born in Englewood, NJ and went on to study at New York City's Art Student League. He summered in Marlboro, NH surrounded by beautiful gardens with views of Mount Monadnock which became the inspiration for many of his lithographs and paintings. He belonged to a number of associations including the National Arts Club.

A very fine pencil signed artist's proof etching by Leonard Baskin, one of a series of twelve etchings he created for Shakespeare's "Titus Andronicus", published by the Gehenna Press. The image size is 12 5/8 x 11 3/4 inches, 1970, cat: Fern & O'Sullivan-590, pencil signed and notated "A. P".
