Oil on Academy Board, 12 x 9 inches, signed and inscribed "M. v. Schmaedel/M√ľnchen" lower right, period frame. The sitter is identified in a copy of a letter dated August 3, 1905, from Seth Mendell to William C. Davenport, President of The Machinists' Bank, Taunton, Massachusetts, in an envelope affixed to the back of the painting. Provenance: Estate of N. David Scotti, Providence, Rhode Island.

The image size is 8 7/8 x 13 7/8 inches, published in 1937 by the Associated American Artists, cat: Costigan-60, pencil signed and titled, tastefully framed. Costigan was known for his evocative images of hardworking farmers and their families, often set against the backdrop of the fields and landscapes of their daily lives.

A very nice pencil drawing of a distant meadow viewed through a shaded grove of trees by Dexter Dawes. It measures 11 x 7 5/8 inches, on a bi-fold sheet of medium weight paper. Dawes spent many summers in the Marlboro, NH area drawing and painting the incredible natural beauty that surrounded him.
