Joined with fellow illustrators Edwin Austin Abbey and Howard Pyle, he contributed pen-and-ink and wash illustrations to the publishing firm of Harper and Brothers in New York.

Mixed media, sight size 11 1/2 x 15 1/4 inches, titled and dated l.r. "rockhill 67", framed. Nora Unwin was a children's illustrator and author. Born near London, England into a family where several members were engaged in publishing and printing. She is best known for her work in book illustration and wood carving. After moving to the States she became a member of the National Academy of Design in New York and earned a Newbery mention for "Mountain Born", and a Newbery Medal for "Amos Fortune, Free Man". The Sharon Arts Center in Peterborough, New Hampshire is the keeper of the Nora S.
