Vibrant oil seascape, c. 1880, by British artist, Sarah Louisa Kilpack. Painting size measures 4 3/4 x 8 1/4 inches in a period frame that measures 10 x 13 inches, signed l.l., oil on paper on board, location written on backing. Born in London in 1839, Sarah Louisa Kilpack was recognized as a talented pianist and artist but after a series of misfortunes she gave up the piano and concentrated exclusively on her painting.

Women's Club Carnival
1907-1991, American

A whimsical scene by Prentiss Taylor created in 1950. It is pencil signed, dated, numbered and titled on the lower margin. Taylor was an illustrator, lithographer and painter studying at the Corcoran Gallery of Art and then at the Arts Student League in NYC. In the 1930's he fell in love with lithography and concentrated on that medium for the remainder of his life. He depicted realistic and narrative scenes reflecting his personal interest in music, architecture, religion and social justice.

Stand of Maples

A very fine sketch of a stand of maples by the artist, Dexter Dawes. Summering in Marlboro, NH, he is known for his lithographs, drawings and paintings of Mt. Monadnock and surrounding views. This image measures 11 x 7 5/8 inches and is done on a lightweight paper.
