Mt Shasta Above the Pines

A richly inked original etching of Mt Shasta in the northern California Cascade Range, this image measures 5 7/8 x 8 inches, c. 1920s, it is pencil signed and titled and inscribed in blue ink. Mary Coulter was a student of Duvanek at the Cincinatti Art Academy, then the Art Institute of Chicago. She went on to work at the Art Institute of Chicago as the Curator of Prints and was the Assistant Director of the San Diego Fine Arts Gallery. She became known for her fine landscapes of both west and east coast scenes, and showed her work in many exhibitions worldwide.

A fine image of sailboats along the Maine coastline, painted in watercolor on paper, sight size 12 3/4 x 16 1/2 inches, signed lower left, framed. Laurence Sisson was born in Maine and after serving in Japan in WWII, studied at the Yale Summer School. He became known for his seascapes of the New England coast as well as images of the American southwest.
