Cabin by the Lake
1854-1927, American

This is a luminous scene of a cabin by a still lake with the glowing colors of the setting sun lingering in the sky, casting blue shadows over summer landscape. Pastel on paper, sight size 12 3/4 x 17 inches, c. 1900, signed in the lower right corner. This pastel comes tastefully displayed in a period maple frame. Clarence Braley was a Massachusetts artist who specialized in pastel and watercolor landscapes. He was a member of the New Bedford Art Association and exhibited his work at the Boston Art Club and the Art Institute of Chicago. (M)
