An early Herrmann Paul lithograph measuring 6 3/4 x 9 5/8 inches, pencil signed and numbered, 8/15. A beautiful image on heavy weight paper with the "Chartres" auction stamp on the verso. Well-known for his illustrative, satirical work of the French upper class, Paul rose to fame during France's "Belle Epoque" period and whose work was exhibited along side other famous French artist's including Vuillard, Matisse and Toulouse-Latrec.

Setting Sail, Early Morning
1850-1921, American

Oil on canvas, 12 x 20 inches, 1881, signed and dated, in a period gilt frame. As a young man, Johnson was a sailor and one of only twelve survivors aboard a ship that caught fire and sank of the coast of South Africa. He returned to his native Boston, Massachusetts, and studied art with marine painter William E. Norton. Johnson went on to become very well known for his nautical and marine paintings in the later part of the 19th century.

A very nice pencil drawing of a distant meadow viewed through a shaded grove of trees by Dexter Dawes. It measures 11 x 7 5/8 inches, on a bi-fold sheet of medium weight paper. Dawes spent many summers in the Marlboro, NH area drawing and painting the incredible natural beauty that surrounded him.
