A lovely scene of the Dutch countryside during summer harvest by Berend Adrianus Bongers. The painting size is 14 3/4 x 28 3/4 inches and is housed in a period frame measuring 25 1/2 x 39 inches. Signed by the artist on the lower right with a date of "1906" found on the back of the frame. Bongers was a "Delft" master and painted in the manner of the "Hague School" where views of domestic life and its daily activities were often painted. Educated at the Academy of Art in The Hague, he painted landscapes, portraits, genre scenes and still lifes.

Monadnock View

This hilltop view of Mt. Monadnock by Dexter Dawes, measures 10 1/4 x 13 3/4 inches and is pencil signed and dated 1932. Dawes was born in Englewood, NJ and went on to study at New York City's Art Student League. He summered in Marlboro, NH surrounded by beautiful gardens with views of Mount Monadnock which became the inspiration for many of his lithographs and paintings. He belonged to a number of associations including the National Arts Club.
