A beautiful woodblock print by the Japanese printmaker, Ido Masao, measuring 20 1/8 x 13 7/8, published in 1983 in an edition of 150, pencil signed, dated and numbered, tastefully framed. Masao was a talented artist from an early age and while growing up made money for his family by designing and selling kimono's and their accessories. His true inspiration came when he saw the color woodblock prints of the master printmaker, Kiyoshi Saito.

Sailing off the Maine Coast

A fine image of sailboats along the Maine coastline, painted in watercolor on paper, sight size 12 3/4 x 16 1/2 inches, signed lower left, framed. Laurence Sisson was born in Maine and after serving in Japan in WWII, studied at the Yale Summer School. He became known for his seascapes of the New England coast as well as images of the American southwest.

A whimsical image by Hermine David done in drypoint with pochoir color, c. 1929. Pencil signed and numbered on the lower margin. David was known as one of the most outstanding women painters of the early 20th. century. Born and raised in Paris and at the age of 16 was accepted into the Ecole Des Beaux Arts, later going on to study at the Academy Julien. Equally well-known as a miniaturist and printmaker, she went on to have a long successful career and was awarded the Legion of Honor in 1932.
