Painting size measures 4 3/4 x 8 1/4 inches in a period frame that measures 10 x 13 inches, signed l.l., oil on paper on board, location written on backing. Born in London in 1839, Sarah Louisa Kilpack was recognized as a talented pianist and artist but after a series of misfortunes she gave up the piano and concentrated exclusively on her painting.
