This is a very fine original painting by American artist Enoch Wood Perry Jr. Oil on board, 11 3/4 x 9 3/4 inches, 1894, signed and dated in the lower right corner, titled on the back, in a beautiful Eastlake period frame. Born in Boston, Perry grew up in New Orleans and as a young man studied art in Germany and in France with Thomas Couture. In 1854 Perry returned to the United States and traveled West where he painted for several years with Albert Bierstandt.
Etching, image size 8 1/2 x 12 1/2 inches, 1931, pencil signed. Chahine studied at the Academia Di Belle Arti in Venice and then at the Academy Julien in Paris. He was a very well respected artist in his time, winning many awards and honors for his work. However his prints and paintings are hard to find, many of them were destroyed in a fire at his studio in 1926 or in a later flood in 1942.
