This early lithograph by the New England Regionalist artist Paul Sample measures 9 x 13 1/4 inches, pencil signed, AAA label included. Sample was known for his portrayal of life in rural New England in the 1950's. He was the artist in residence at Dartmouth College, a position he held from 1938 to 1962. In 1941 he was inducted into the National Academy.

Summer Harvest in the Hague

A lovely scene of the Dutch countryside during summer harvest by Berend Adrianus Bongers. The painting size is 14 3/4 x 28 3/4 inches and is housed in a period frame measuring 25 1/2 x 39 inches. Signed by the artist on the lower right with a date of "1906" found on the back of the frame. Bongers was a "Delft" master and painted in the manner of the "Hague School" where views of domestic life and its daily activities were often painted. Educated at the Academy of Art in The Hague, he painted landscapes, portraits, genre scenes and still lifes.
