Mount Monadnock
1877-1963, American

A lovely view of Mount Monadnock by the American Impressionist, Everett Longley Warner. Sight size is 11 1/2 x 15 1/4 inches and is signed on the l.r., c. 1940. Warner was a successful painter and printmaker. While studying at the Arts Student League with George Bridgmen his work was included in many art competitions including at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the National Academy of Design. He was a founding member of the Old Lyme Art Colony in Connecticut along with Childe Hassam and Abbott Thayer. Framed, with artist provenance on the backing.

Birds in the Bloom

This c. 1950 wood engraving by Nora Unwin measures 7 x 5 3/4 inches. It is pencil signed, titled and numbered on the lower margin. It is not in the McGoldrick catalogue. Born into the well known Unwin book publishing family in England, Nora showed her artistic talents from an early age and was schooled heavily throughout her early years in numerous creative arts. She studied at the RCA in London before coming to the US in 1946 and is credited with much of the revival of wood engraving in America in the early part of the 20th century.
