Watercolor on paper, sight size 11 x 14 3/8 inches, c. 1930s, signed lower left, framed. Carroll Bill was an artist and architect, studying at Harvard Architectural School. He was a member of many artist's associations, including the Boston Architectural Club, the Boston Society of Architects, the Boston Society of Watercolor Painters, the New York Society of Watercolor Painters, the New York Watercolor Club and the Springfield Art League. This original etching, after Jules Breton, by Lucien Dautrey measures 9 5/8 x 5 1/8 inches. Created in 1885, this image was Dautrey's first important plate exhibiting it at the Salon of 1885 for which he received an Honorable Mention. Dautrey was a distinguished pupil of Courtry and Felix Bracquemond and a member of the Society of French Artists. Remarque at bottom right of woman putting on coat.
