Oil on canvas, sight size 16 1/2 x 40 inches, c. 1910, signed l.l. "F. Weber", framed. Weber grew up in Columbia, SC but was educated in Germany where he graduated in Berlin in 1903. His artistic education began in Paris at the Ecole National des Beaux Arts and the Julian Academy. Ferdinand Humbert, Jean Paul Laurens, Raoul Verlet and Paul Richer were his teachers. He is known for his etchings, sculptures and paintings which are exhibited in many public and private collections.

Junk Shop

Julius Tanzer's lithograph "Junk Shop" measures 14 x 10 1/2 inches and is pencil signed and titled on the lower margin. Tanzer was an artist for the Works Project Administration in New York. His remarkable lithographs depict the grit and beauty of everyday life in Depression era New York City. Many of his prints are included in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
