The Train Station

A very well done mixed media drawing by W.B. Fergusson. The artist used pen and ink, pencil and gouache in this whimsical moment in time at a busy train station. Done on gray toned paper, it measures 13 3/4 x 9 1/2 inches. The artists' signature is seen on the lower right with a date of 1920.

A remarkable original etching by American artist and architect C. A. Platt, image size 4 7/8 x 7 3/4 inches, 1881, cat: Rice- 22, plate signed and dated, pencil signed. Illustrated in the Grolier Club catalog. Platt was born in New York and studied art at the National Academy of Design, the Art Students League and the Academie Julian. He was a very successful painter and etcher, known for his delicately rendered New England landscapes and harbor scenes. He was also a talented architect and a member of the Saint-Gaudens Art Colony in Cornish, NH.
