This landscape by Dexter Dawes measures 15 x 20 7/8 inches, is signed and dated, 1937. There are some indications that it was painted on a rainy day. Dawes was born in Englewood, NJ and went on to study at New York City's Art Student League. He summered in Marlboro, NH surrounded by beautiful gardens with views of Mount Monadnock which became the inspiration for many of his lithographs and paintings. He belonged to a number of associations including the National Arts Club.

Vermont Survival

A finely detailed original etching, image size 9 7/8 x 12 3/4 inches, published in 1960 by the Associated American Artists, cat: Embury-164, pencil signed. Lucioni was known for his remarkably detailed, textural etchings of the New England landscape, such as this image of an old Vermont barn and silo.
