This is a very fine original landscape, watercolor on paper, 10 5/8 x 16 inches, clearly signed "Henry Brooke, London". Born in Dublin, Henry Brooke lived in London from 1761-1767, where he painted landscapes and historical scenes.


March of the Weavers

This is an evocative etching by Kathe Kollwitz, from her series "The Weaver's Revolt". Image size 8 x 11 3/8 inches, mid century restrike published by Von der Becke, blindstamp in the lower right margin, with the label from Ferdinand Roten Galleries. Kollwitz was a German Expressionist artist known for her dramatic images of the poor, especially women and children, and the stark realities of poverty and war. Her two most famous series are the 'Weaver's Revolt' and the 'Peasant War', both inspired by historical events.


View From a Country Road

This drawing by Dexter Dawes measures 18 3/4 x 24 3/4 inches. It is signed in the lower right corner. Dawes was born in Englewood, NJ and went on to study at New York City's Art Student League. He summered in Marlboro, NH surrounded by beautiful gardens with views of Mount Monadnock which became the inspiration for many of his drawings and lithographs. He belonged to a number of associations including the National Arts Club.
