Lithograph, image size 17 3/4 x 14 inches, 1923, edition of 52, from the series "Men Like Gods," based on the novel by H G Wells. This image is printed by Bolton Brown with his signature l.l, pencil signed and titled by Bellows. In 1904 George Bellows left his hometown in Ohio to study at the New York School of Art under Robert Henri, becoming involved with Henri's "The Eight" as well as the Ashcan School. He became well known for his paintings and lithographs depicting scenes of everyday life in New York City, as well as his most famous boxing scenes.
