Summer Light

This watercolor of two crab apple trees by Dexter Dawes measures 12 x 16 inches and is pencil signed and dated 1948. Dawes was born in Englewood, NJ and went on to study at New York City's Art Student League. He summered in Marlboro, NH surrounded by beautiful gardens with views of Mount Monadnock which became the inspiration for many of his lithographs and paintings. He belonged to a number of associations including the National Arts Club.

This lithograph by George Bellows measures 17 3/4 x 14 inches and is house in a museum quality custom frame with a linen liner. Created in 1923 in an edition of 52, from the series "Men Like Gods," based on the novel by H.G. Wells. It is #158 in the Mason catalog. This image is printed by Bolton Brown with his signature on the lower left and is pencil signed and titled by Bellows and also plate signed. In 1904 George Bellows left his hometown in Ohio to study at the New York School of Art under Robert Henri, becoming involved with Henri's "The Eight" as well as the Ashcan School.

This fine pencil drawing of a giant pine tree with its wooded surroundings, by local Marlboro, NH artist, Dexter Dawes measures 15 x 11 inches and is sketched on a medium weight, gray paper. Dawes summered in southern NH, with its' majestic views of Mt. Monadnock where many of his inspirations for his drawings, paintings and lithographs came from.
