Painting

Monhegan Island Seascape

This is a luminous original seascape with a great Arts and Crafts style look. It is painted in oils on artist board, 9 1/2 x 13 inches, 1917, housed in a hand carved Whistler style period walnut frame. This painting is signed and dated in the lower left corner, although we have not been able to identify the artist. There is also an inscription on the back of the board which reads "Sketch from Monhegan Maine. To friend *** John Wood."
