Inscription in German in pencil reads: "Wenn se Dir man blos nich erwischen - Justav!" "hab man Keene Angst ick Kenne den Rummel - ick war selba Polizeipra'sident'!" Which roughly translates to: "Don't get caught!" "Have no fear, I know the Head of Police!"
Pencil signed in the lower right. Plate measures 9 7/8 x 14 inches on 12 3/8 x 16 7/8 inch wove type paper. McAfee was an artist from Taos, New Mexico, best known for her depictions of ranch scenes and animals. She moved to Taos in 1928 and built the White Horse studio there, and was the Taos artist of the year in 1981.
