Summer Light
1872- c.1950, American

This watercolor of two crab apple trees by Dexter Dawes measures 12 x 16 inches and is pencil signed and dated 1948. Dawes was born in Englewood, NJ and went on to study at New York City's Art Student League. He summered in Marlboro, NH surrounded by beautiful gardens with views of Mount Monadnock which became the inspiration for many of his lithographs and paintings. He belonged to a number of associations including the National Arts Club.

This is a beautiful original landscape by American artist Roi Partridge. Etching, image size is 8 3/4 x 11 5/8 inches, published in 1950 in an edition of 154 for the Society of Print Connoisseurs, pencil signed. This etching appears to be an early proof apart from the published edition, as there is no blindstamp from the Society of Print Connoisseurs.

Designed by the artist for the family's 1944 Christmas card, done on lightweight paper. It measures 7 1/4 x 8 3/8 inches. Dawes spent many years in the Marlboro, NH area drawing and painting the incredible natural beauty that surrounded him.
