Summer Light
1872- c.1950, American

This watercolor of two crab apple trees by Dexter Dawes measures 12 x 16 inches and is pencil signed and dated 1948. Dawes was born in Englewood, NJ and went on to study at New York City's Art Student League. He summered in Marlboro, NH surrounded by beautiful gardens with views of Mount Monadnock which became the inspiration for many of his lithographs and paintings. He belonged to a number of associations including the National Arts Club.

Fishing Boats in Harbor

A beautiful sun drenched scene by Manuel Robbe, under his pseudonym Alphonse Lafitte. Color etching with aquatint, image size 19 1/2 x 12 inches, published in 1919 by Estampe Moderne, Paris, with the blindstamp below the image, pencil signed "A. Lafitte". Manuel Robbe studied at the Academie Julien and the Ecole des Beaux Artes, becoming a master of the aquatint medium during the ‘Belle Epoch’ of early 20th century France. He developed much of his own aquatint techniques, which enabled him to create his uniquely painterly, richly colored images.
