Colonial Woman With Scarf

This late 18th. century American School portrait is an unsigned, oil on canvas. Frame size is 28 x 25 inches, sight size is 19 3/4 x 16 3/4 inches. A very pleasing image but needs restoration.

The Bowsprit, Plate 1
1873-1943, British

This etching by the British artist, Arthur J.T. Brisco, measures 8 1/4 x 13 3/4 inches, ink signed, 1928, plate 1, edition of 75, Hurst cat: 209. This image portrays the dangerous job the crew of Brisco's yacht, Golden Vanity, encountered as part of their daily routine. Briscoe studied at the Slade Art School and the Academy Julian in Paris and then spent the rest of his time sailing, becoming one of the most prominent British marine artists of the 20th century. He owned his own three ton cutter which he used to sail around the Essex coast.
