Monhegan Island View
1883-1956, American

Oil on canvas, sight size 16 1/2 x 40 inches, c. 1910, signed l.l. "F. Weber", framed. Weber grew up in Columbia, SC but was educated in Germany where he graduated in Berlin in 1903. His artistic education began in Paris at the Ecole National des Beaux Arts and the Julian Academy. Ferdinand Humbert, Jean Paul Laurens, Raoul Verlet and Paul Richer were his teachers. He is known for his etchings, sculptures and paintings which are exhibited in many public and private collections.

Le Nouveau Ne Au Bonnet

This is a beautiful original lithograph by French Symbolist artist Eugene Carriere. The image size is 9 7/8 x 7 3/8 inches, it was created in 1890, state I/II, pencil signed by the artist. Carriere was an important figure in the French Symbolist movement; he studied at the Ecole Des Beaux Artes in Paris with Alexandre Cabanel, and was greatly influenced by the work of Rubens and Velazquez, as well as his friend and contemporary artist Auguste Rodin.

This pencil drawing of a distant view of Mt. Monadnock measures 4 x 13 3/8 inches. Done with a very fine hand, it suggests a bright, sunny summer day. The image is on a bi-fold sheet of medium weight paper with location info written in the artist's hand.
