This beautiful etching of the Administration Building at Harvard Medical School by Charleston artist Elizabeth O'Neill Verner measures 10 1/2 x 14 1/2 inches. Done circa 1925, it is pencil signed on the lower right margin. Known for her love of the Lowcountry surrounding Charleston, with its images of swamps, fields and local wildlife and urban scenes with its unique characters, she captured the spirit of the south. Verner initiated the founding of the Charleston Society of Etchers and is considered the matriarch of the Charleston Renaissance, which flourished during the 1920s and 1930s.
