This is a vibrant original watercolor by American artist Gordon Grant. The sight size is 14 1/2 x 21 1/4 inches, signed lower left, framed, with the original label from Vose Galleries, Boston. Gordon Grant was born in California and sent to Great Britain for his education. He worked as a staff artist for New York World and Harper's Weekly, covering both the Boer War and the Mexican Revolution, but became most widely known for his marine paintings and lithographs.


White and Weatherworn-Maine Coast

A lovely chiaroscuro wood engraving, second and final state, two blocks, black and tan, 1960, 10 3/4 x 12 1/2 inches, edition of possibly 300, one of Berry's first chiaroscuro prints, pencil signed and titled. Born on the coast of Maine, the son of a dairy farmer, Berry grew up to be one of the most important wood engravers of his time.
